    Northern slopes

    Northern slopes

At the village’s northern foot lies Harrow on the Hill railway station, serving the Metropolitan underground line and overground rail.  You would expect this tranche of The Hill to have been heavily developed, but this is not the case, being protected by the green expances of The Grove Open Space and to the West Church Fields.

The Edwardian terraces found in Whitehall Road and Lansdown Road abutting The Grove Open Space are a stones throw from the station, but very much “the right side of the tracks”.  These roads connect by alleyways to “The Roxboroughs” being Roxborough Park and Roxborough Avenue.

The Roxborough area climbs up The Hill and connects via a footpath to the very summit at St Mary’s Church, with a wonderful observation platform laying out views accross Buckinghamshire toward Oxford.  These roads offer a mix of houses from grand Victorian detached residences to a pre war terrace, luxury modern apartments and more affordable post war contemporary apartment blocks.

A small parade of local convenience shops and petrol station are found on the periferral Bessborough Road, but only a couple of minutes walk takes you to Morrisons Supermarket and then into the commercial heart of Harrow.

The Roxborough’s, Whitehall and Lansdown offer a Hill location with excellent transport connections and shopping convenience.
