If you own the Leasehold of a house or flat, government legislation over the last decade has made it easier to extend your lease, or even buy the freehold (called “enfranchising”). If your lease is getting short, to protect the value of your property, you should consider whether you qualify for either of these options.

As you might expect, the process requires a working knowledge of the relevant Acts, particularly the Leasehold Reform Act 1967, Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 and the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002.

To see you through this system our services include:

Initial consultation to assess qualification
Valuation of property
Negotiation with Freeholder
Representation to Leasehold Valuation Tribunal

The legislation also provides Lessees with the right to seek appointment of a new manager for blocks of flats where the existing is at fault, and specific grounds under which terms of a lease can be varied by a court.
